Kevin's Side of the Dish

bad-brains-fire-burn-babylon-hot-sauceToday I’m reviewing Bad Brains Fire Burn Babylon Hot Sauce, made by Heartbreaking Dawns. I asked the creator of Heartbreaking Dawns, Johnny McLaughlin, if I could review this sauce. I asked him at last year’s North Market Show in Columbus, Ohio.

Ingredients: Papaya, Red Scotch Bonnet Peppers, Distilled Vinegar, Water, Salt, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Dry Mustard, and Natural Gum.

Flavor and Heat: I thought that it had a sort of a sweet taste. I would give this a 2 out of 10 for a heat level because it kinda builds up. I would say its appearance is a brownish-orange type of color. Its consistency would be that its runny and not chunky. Its aroma is a smell of spiciness and apricot.

bad-brains-fire-burn-babylon-hot-sauce-2My dad told me that some great sauces such as Defcon and ones like that for wings have a cream or butter type of thing added to get a good taste and consistency. Well, Johnny had a good mind, because I added Bad Brains to a cream and it tasted horrible. He was right about not adding a cream type of substance to this product.

For an overall rating, I would give this sauce a 5 out of 5 because I like the amount of heat it has, it has an amazing taste and it is perfect for wings.

5 stars
