Who Did Scott Pick?

For the first time, I will reveal who I had nominated for the Hall of Fame this time around! While dozens of important individuals in hot sauce and chile pepper history are highly worthy to be inducted, these are my top five choices:

Jim Campbell – Founded Mild to Wild Pepper & Herb Co., early chile pepper grower and founder of Open Fields chilehead event
Dave Lutes – Founder of Hot Shots Hot Sauce Distributing
Wilbur Scoville – Scoville Heat Scale inventor
Jeff Campbell – Legendary chile grower, who was the first American to grow orange habaneros
Maunsel White – Irish-American who was an early pepper grower and hot sauce pioneer in the 1800s

If you intend to nominate individuals for the Hot Sauce Hall of Fame, by all means don’t feel like you have to copy my choices. Please do your own research and come up with a dream list of “fire-o-neers” you deem most worthy.

Others that could possibly included are Jose-Luis Saavedra Sr. of Tapatio Hot Sauce, Chris Way of Datil Do-It, Chuck Evans of Montezuma Brand, Chris Schlesinger of Inner Beauty, Luther Hearn of Peppers, David Ashley of Mad Dog, Alvin Baumer of Baumer Foods (Crystal Hot Sauce), Si Brown of Bruce Foods (Louisiana Hot Sauce), Buddy Taylor of Gator Hammock Hot Sauce, B.F. Trappey of Trappey’s Hot Sauce, Frank Garcia, Stuart Jeffries, Emma Jean Cervantes of Cervantes Enterprises, Jeff Gerlach, Mark Miller…the list goes on and on.
