Scott Roberts #1 Search Result in Google, Yahoo!, and Ask.com
Every once in a while a do a "vanity search" for myself on Google - I mean, who doesn't? I'm curious to see how I rank among all the other Scott Robertses of the world. I have a relatively common-sounding name, so a placement of my website in the top 20 would be good enough for me.
I did a search for "Scott Roberts" earlier this evening, and lo and behold, what did I see? ScottRobertsWeb.com was the very first result:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=scott+roberts.
Woot! I'm trying to get a few reciprocal links on other sites to link back to mine as a spicy food and tech blog, and perhaps it's beginning to pay off.
Out of curiosity I hopped on over to Yahoo! to see where I placed in their search results for Scott Roberts:
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=scott+roberts
Boom! #1 again. How did I fare on Ask.com?
http://www.ask.com/web?q=scott+roberts
Another numero uno. And on MSN.com/Live.com?
http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=scott+roberts
http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=scott+roberts
#2 and #5, respectively. Oh well, you can't win 'em all.
As a side note: interestingly, since MSN and Live are supposed to be using the exact some search engine that's powered by Microsoft, that the SERPs (search engine results pages), that they would show different results. Maybe it takes a few to several hours for new result data to propagate to their servers?
Anywho, I thought it was pretty cool to see me on top of three of the four biggies in search, especially on King Google.
