Review - Krunchers Hot Buffalo Wing Kettle Cooked Potato Chips

Krunchers Hot Buffalo Wing Kettle Cooked Potato Chips I've been a big fan of Krunchers Kettle-Cooked Potato Chips ever since I was fourteen. I recall scarfing down bag after bag of both regular and Jalapeño-flavored Krunchers while practicing on my first guitar. I would shove a few of the ultra-thick chips in my mouth, wipe the small amount of grease off of my hands onto my pants, and attempt to replicate my favorite Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads licks with my unlearned little fingers. There's a lot of great memories that coincide with the consumption of Krunchers, so their newer Hot Buffalo Wing chips had better deliver.

Aroma:
2.5 out of 5. They have a very light small. Not overpowering at all, and faintly reminiscent of hot sauce and potatoes.

Appearance and Texture:
These have the same thick cut as the rest of the Krunchers line. There were no large air bubbles present. They are slightly greasy, but not terrible - I've seen some regular-cut potato chips far more oily than these. Each chip has a light orange coating, and is mostly evenly-distributed over it's surface.

Taste:
3 out of 5. Despite the fact that Hot Buffalo Wing Krunchers reminded me very little of buffalo wings, or even a buffalo wing-flavored such as Snyder's Hot Buffalo Wing Pretzel Pieces, I actually liked these. They had a flavor of a vinegary but mild hot sauce (a la Tabasco) mixed with a dash of generic cheddar. That's not a bad thing. I found these tasty, mellow, and unoffensive to the palette.

Heat:
1 out of 5. Not much burn at all, but just enough from keeping these from being too plain-tasting. Unless you're a complete spice wimp, these shouldn't be too hot for ya.

Label:
4 out of 5. The bag and its graphics are slick, glossy and modern. Has a nice classy look.

Overall:
Krunchers Hot Buffalo Wing Kettle Cooked Potato Chips are NOT among the best-tasting spicy potato crisps I've ever had, but you could do far worse in a snack food. This is a respectable product from one of the nation's foremost chip makers.

Krunchers are available in many parts of the U.S. and all over the internet. For more information, go to the Krunchers Website.

The best spicy chips are still Old Vienna's Red Hot Riplets.

My son loves the buffalo wing flavor of Krunchers, but I can't find them anywhere. Amazon seems to only carry packs of different flavors. How can I buy just the buffalo wing flavor?

I just polished off a small bag of these and I thought they were perfect for when you are looking for one of those "so nasty you can't stop eating them" type of snacks. By spicy potato chip standards they were average spiciness, but I dug the flavor. Also I liked how every single chip had lots of flavoring. This is the best wing flavored chip I've tried, and I'm not even a particular fan of kettle chips. The "hot sauce" flavor tasted like hot sauce and not as much like vague "spicy potato chip" seasoning as I expected.

I'd give the flavor and the eating enjoyment overall a 4/5 compared to other chips in the grocery store.
