I've Finally Started My Chile Pepper Garden!
Yep, after taking a break last year from any type of gardening, I've planted my chile pepper seeds last night and hope to have some good pods ready to pick by late summer/early fall.
What did I plant this time? In the past I've had tremendous success with cayennes, jalapenos and orange habaneros, moderate results with fresnos and de arbols, but very spotty success with bhuts. I'm trying most of these again with a few new ones. Here's a rundown of the capsicum varieties:
• Jalapeno
• Cayenne
• 7 Pot
• Trinidad Scorpion
• Orange Habanero
• Red Savina Habanero
• Poblano
• Japones
• Bhut Jolokia
• Fresno
Unlike a few years ago when I started reporting about my first experience growing the bhut jolokia and then dropped the ball, I'll try to document the entire process a little better this time.
For 2010, I bought one of those Jiffy greenhouse trays with the peat pellets. Yeah, that totally goes against my previous advice of not using peat, but I've heard from several people who have claimed to have gotten fantastic germination using it, so I'll take my chances with peat this year.
Each row contains one type of pepper, with several pellets each. I'll post an update when they've finally germinated.

We have more Jolokia than anything else. I've been transplanting everything into bigger pots this past week. Gotta keep 'em growing until I'm sure the last frost has past. We just had a frost here a few days ago.
Looking forward to seeing and reading more!
