Hot Sauce and Hot Pepper Sites You Should Not Miss

Like any of ten thousand different topics, the subject of spicy foods - more specifically, hot sauces and hot chile peppers - has its dizzying share of destinations of the web. Just to name a few, you'll find online stores, sauce manufacturers, general foodie sites, and recipe hubs all vying for your attention. But where should you go to slice through all the clutter and find good, undiluted coverage of all things mouth-burnin'?

Here are some of the places I visit on an almost daily basis to stay up to speed. These spicy foods sites are run by genuine, down-to-earth people just like you and me. You won't find boring coverage of dainty French pastries or hoity-doity Japanese cuisine you'd never eat in a million years. These guys love grillin' and chowing down on real food, giving hot sauce reviews, and talking about their experiences in the average joe's culinary world.

Peppers and More
This is a cozy little online community where the main draw is the extensive reader reviews of sauces, salsas, jerky, condiments, cigars, coffee, and lots more. I'm one such reviewer, and most of the food items I cover here on my blog are also duplicated over there. The staff and members of the Peppers and More forums are a great group of guys who are friendly and unassuming. This is a site you should definitely bookmark.

The Hot Pepper Forums
The granddaddy of spicy food forums, The Hot Pepper has thousands of members from all over the globe. Conversational topics can be varied and very extensive: they include thorough chile pepper plant growing and identifying to cooking and grilling techniques to sauce making, and a thousand things in between. If you have a detailed question, this is the place to ask.

Hot Sauce Daily
Brian Meagher runs a nice blog called Hot Sauce Daily. While it's not updated every single day, there's more than enough juicy content to keep foodies satisfied. You'll find BBQ and grilling coverage, spicy food recipes, and hot sauces reviews aplenty.

The Hot Zone Online
This extensive blog has the benefit of having several different excellent contributors and reviewers. This website possibly has the most good, solid spicy food and sauce reviews of any blog (including mine). The comments in blog posts can also sometimes be very insightful. All in all, a must-read.

Taste the Fear
Similar in scope to The Hot Zone Online, this blog has a pirate theme and a more irreverant attitude. Oodles of good, fun reviews of hot products abound here. The comments sections can be a bit "inside joke"-ish, but for the most part you'll be enlightened and entertained by the site.

Fiery Foods
The "Pope of Peppers", Dave DeWitt, is the facilitator of this site. It's self-described as the "supersite" for fiery foods and barbecue, and in many ways it's correct. It has an exhaustive array of archived articles and coverage of the spicy food industry. The blog (just one of the many sections included here) may not be updated nearly as often as the ones listed above, but the remainder of the site's content can keep a newcomer occupied for hours, reading and learning what industry vets have to say.

Nick, but there are a couple years of great archives on hotsauceblog, with lots more good info than you'll find on most sites, including this one. The new HSB site may suck but the old stuff is still awesome.

all the ones Scott mentioned are well worth visiting weekly. sometimes I admit it can be overwelming to keep track of all the food sites, but Scott nailed the biggies here, especially when it comes to hot sauce.

Burnmegood, thanks for the ad, but this isn't a list of shopping websites.
