EPC's 8th Annual Charity Chili & Dessert Cook-Off
Even though I often don't blog about it, one of the perks of my job as a blogger and reviewer is that I get to be asked to judge various contests (most that are not around the greater St. Louis metro area unfortunately have to be politely refused). It's been mainly focused in the realm of wings, salsa barbecue and chili. Sure, there are some really mediocre dishes drudged up by restaurants and individuals, but there is also a good chance some very unique and tasty eatin's can be found.
My recent stint as celebrity judge at EPC's 8th Annual Charity Chili & Dessert Cook-Off was certainly no exception. EPC, Inc., a computer sales and service company located in St. Charles, Missouri, played host to this event and promoted the cook-off to benefit both Friends of Kids with Cancer and the Open Door Animal Sanctuary.
It cost folks $5 to sample the food from three separate cook-off contests: Best Mild/Medium Chili, Best Hot/Spicy Chili, and Best Dessert. Paying customers (aka EPC employees) were able to judge what they thought was best from each category, while I got to choose the judge's choice prizes.
A combined total of $575 was raised for Friends of Kids with Cancer and the Open Door Animal Sanctuary.
