Kickass Ketchups Custom Ketchup Recipes Infographic

kickass-ketchups-recipes-inforgraphic-thumbnailI love ketchup on french fries and on meatloaf, but it’s hard to find other applications on which I can put plain ol’ tomato ketchup on and not have it taste “off”. But if you get a flavored ketchup, and then it opens bold new dimensions for this popular condiment.

Below is an infographic I found on Reddit on different recipes for ketchup variations – Kickass Ketchups! Indian Spice Ketchup? Bloody Mary Ketchup? Chipotle Lime Ketchup? I cannot wait to play around with these ketchup recipe combinations!

5 Tips For Fall Grilling and Barbecue

Fall sunshine on suburban patio and gardenAutumn is the one time of year the weather is nice in most parts of the country at the same time. In the warm southern and southwest regions, people who have been kept inside by the blazing summer temperatures start to enjoy the outdoors more. In the northern regions, the nights start to get crisp but the daytime temperatures are very pleasant. And pleasant weather means an ideal time for grilling and barbecue.

1. We all tend to have a few recipes that are our favorites to prepare on the grill, the dishes we know are going to turn out nearly perfect every time. The old reliables. But part of the fun of grilling is experimenting, finding new dishes…

Ten Ingredients in Your Kitchen You Cannot Live Without

ten-items-in-your-kitchen-you-can't-live-withoutWhat are the food ten items in your kitchen you cannot do without? Most of us in the western world will have ingredients such as milk, eggs, butter/margarine, sugar and some type of flour on hand, but what else do you need (or makes it hard to get by without) for everyday cooking and meal creation?

1. Garlic Powder – I’ll add this stuff to a wide variety of dishes. It’s almost as good and universally useful as salt, even if it’s just a pinch. If a recipe calls for fresh garlic, then I’ll use fresh garlic. But for things that need a quick “spicing up”, garlic powder is the answer….

Cooking With Smoke BBQ Infographic

how-to-smoke-meats-on-a-gas-or-charcoal-grill-infographic-thumbnailWe barbeque junkies know and appreciate the benefits of having wood smoke applied to our outdoor cooks. So much, in fact, that virtually all BBQ purists and aficionados don’t even consider it to be “real” ‘que unless the meat the slow-cooked meat gets a healthy dose of savory smoke flavor. If all you know is to set your charcoal or gas grill on “high” and blaze the heck out of your meat, then you’re missing out on the best of what BBQ has to offer.

Here is an outstanding infographic on how to cook with smoke on a gas or charcoal grill. Even veterans may glean something new from these excellent tips laid out before you. Enjoy!

Rewind: Ghost Pepper Pumpkin Spice Coffee Recipe

ghost-pepper-bhut-jolokia-pumpkin-spice-coffee-recipeWe’re fast approaching my favorite time of the year – Autumn. Yeah, yeah, I know – you probably don’t want to hear for the umpteenth time of why Fall is so great. Nor do a lot of you care about the annual resurgence of pumpkin spiced food items.

Well, I happen to love pumpkin spice (and wish it were available year ’round, just like egg nog), and for those of you who also do, I’ve gone back in time 5 years and and unearthed a recipe I made for an excellent Ghost Pepper Pumpkin Spice Coffee for the original video version of the Weekly Firecast.

This is a good, sweet, creamy, spicy blend of java that’s perfect for both coffee lovers and chileheads for an Autumn morning. Enjoy this Ghost Pepper Pumpkin Spice Coffee Recipe:

Homemade Copycat Spicy A.1. Steak Sauce Recipe

homemade-copycat-A1-steak-sauce-spicyBeing the crazy tinkerer in the kitchen that I am, I’ve had lots of experience at testing out recipes, as well as starting from scratch when concocting various sauces and dishes. Unfortunately, more have failed than have been successful, but those failures have only pushed me harder at finding ways to make something work out.

Such as the case at making my own homemade spicy steak sauce. There are a lot of copycat A.1. Steak Sauce recipes flooding the interwebs, but through a lot of trial and error, I believe I’ve tweaked a great facsimile of a copycat A.1. Steak Sauce. Not all sauces I consume have to be fiery and peppery, but I did want to make one that had a touch of spiciness to it. So here is my version of a spicy A.1.-style Steak Sauce that you can brew up in your own kitchen…
