What’s the Difference Between Herbs and Spices?

What's the Difference Between Herbs and Spices?Have you ever stopped to wonder what was the difference between herbs and spices? The Supreme Spice Blog provides a definative answer:

“A simple answer to this question would be that the leaf of a plant which is used in cooking is referred to as a Herb and any other part of the plant that is used to flavor food is termed as a Spice. For example – Cloves (bud), ginger & turmeric (roots), fennel, cumin, coriander (seeds), cinnamon (bark), peppercorns (berries) [would all be conidered spices].

Herbs are used fresh and spices are generally in dried form.”

Global Warming Skeptics Plan ‘Carbon Belch Day’ on June 12

Conservative grassroots group Grassfire.org have brilliantly planned a counter-offensive against junk science-spouting global warming fanatics by announcing “Carbon Belch Day”. They want people worldwide to waste as much energy as possible this June 12th by “hosting a barbecue, going for a drive, watching television, leaving a few lights on, or even smoking a few cigars.” Why? The group wants to “help Americans break free from the ‘carbon footprint guilt’ being imposed by Climate Alarmists.”

You can do your part by pledging to join in the “belch” at the Official Carbon Belch Day website.

Penn and Teller Get Hippies to Sign Petition to Ban Water

Penn and TellerThis is a classic from Penn and Teller’s Bullsh*t! show. They sent someone to an environmental rally to collect signatures to ban dihydrogen monoxide – in other words, H2O or water. You wouldn’t believe how many brainless lefties fell hook, line and sinker for this, demonstrating once again how quickly they join movements without even bothering to investigate the facts.

Life’s Imponderables

Confused Girl - Life's ImponderablesIf you’ve been on the internet longer than six months, then you’ve probably seen lists like these cluttering in your e-mail inboxes. Still, some of these are corkers and are worth reading again.

Did you ever stop and wonder……

Why doesn’t Tarzan have a beard?

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are dead?

Why do banks charge a fee on “insufficient funds” when they know there is not enough?

Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Why do they call it a TV “set” when you only have one?

Why are there interstate highways in Hawaii?

Why is brassiere singular and panties plural?

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Why doesn’t glue stick to the bottle?

Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?

Whose idea was it to put an “S” in the word “lisp”?

Why do we say alarm clocks “go off” when they start making noise?

2008: The Year The World Will Cool Down

Courtesy of The Daily Mail:

The world will experience global cooling this year, according a leading climate scientist.

The head of the World Meteorological Organisation said La Nina – the weather phenomenon which is cooling the Pacific – is likely to trigger a small drop in average global temperatures compared with last year.

The prediction – which follows a bitterly cold winter in China and the Arctic – is prompting some sceptics to question the theory of climate change…

Dave’s Gourmet Adjustable Heat Hot Sauce

Dave's Gourmet Adjustable Heat Hot SauceOne of the coolest hot sauces to debut in the past few years has got to be Dave’s Gourmet Adjustable Heat hot sauce. Adjustable Heat is bottled in a 7.1 oz container that allows you to change the spiciness of the sauce by turning the cap. The pump spray cap – similar to the homemade chili sauce mister I mentioned a few weeks back – mixes the ingredients from the two compartments (one containing the flavored portion and the other housing the heat mixture) of the bottle in different proportions. You can have a sauce that is mildly spicy to one that has a scorching zing.

Adjustable Heat is not merely a must-have for the geeky gadget factor. The sauce’s taste is one of the best in the Dave’s Gourmet lineup; even when cranked all the way down to bland, it’s base flavor is almost good enough to stand on it’s own even without barely any capsaicin extract. Turn up the fire and the overall hearty flavor is not lost in the spiciness. The elixir would go well on most anything, including chicken, tortilla chips, and pizza.

Adjustable Heat hot sauce can be ordered directly on Dave’s Gorment website.
